Cornus kousa var. chinensis ‘Milky Way’

An American selection of this larger growing Chinese variety, picked out for its fuller 'flowers' and dense flowering habit. Spectacularly beautiful when flowering in June, this makes a small deciduous tree with layered branches, literally smothered with white bracted flowers in June. The edible fruit are an added attraction in late summer, looking almost like globular strawberries and autumn colour is usually rich in shades of bronze and crimson. Hardy and easy in most soils, but not happy on thin dry soils such as chalk.
