The hardiest species and one of the parents of the well known C. x powellii, though very distinct in its truly excellent glaucous, guttered, long tapering foliage which arches out and downwards, forming a spectacular foliage plant. Clusters of white trumpets, heavily striped with red on the outside and suffused pink inside, atop scapes 60-90cm tall above the fabulous foliage in July/Aug. For sun or semi-shade, this is a tolerant species, doing well in ordinary or rather moist soil. Hardy throughout the UK, this originates from South Africa.
