Dipelta yunnanensis

A large deciduous shrub much prized and sought after by plantsmen. Weigela like flowers, cream tinged light pink with orange throats, borne in great profusion in May followed by distinctive, papery, winged fruit. More refined foliage than D. floribunda but smaller flowers. Pale flaking bark adds winter interest. Hardy and suitable for most soils in sun or semi-shade.
