Disanthus cercidifolius

This deciduous, hardy medium sized shrub from the Far East is renowned for its superlative autumn colour, turning soft-crimson and claret-red, sometimes with yellow thrown in too - the leaves resembling a Cercidiphyllum. Tiny red-purple flowers are seen in October. The plant forms a medium sized spreading shrub, needing moist lime-free soil in a semi-shaded spot. Not often available!
