Ehretia acuminata

Once known as E. thyrsiflora, this hardy small slow growing tree can be highly effective in flower in late summer, usually August, with masses of small scented white flowers borne in panicles, followed by rounded sweet tasting golden yellow fruit. From the Himalaya to the Far East, but also from SE Asia and Australia, this is a hardy species in the UK once established and rather different from the slightly more common E. dicksonii, though very rarely planted or offered.
