Eriobotrya sp. from N. Vietnam

Found at 2000m in Northern Vietnam, very near the border with China, this evergreen tree has very probably never been offered for sale before. The long slim, well-toothed foliage emerges red tinted. The leaves are a lighter green and both the leaves and shoots are slimmer than the common E. japonica. Flowers are unseen as yet but will be white or yellow, fragrant, in terminal panicles. Hardiness unknown, so site sensibly, but this altitude holds many relatively hardy plants in N. Vietnam. Hardy in milder parts of the UK at least. Suitable for any reasonable soil.
