Erythrostemon gilliesii (Syn. Caesalpinia)

A truly exotic looking deciduous shrub from Argentina, with particularly attractive, feathery bi-pinnate foliage which makes you think this couldn't possibly be hardy, let alone the tall terminal heads of atypical yellow pea flowers with spectacularly long, exserted scarlet stamen, borne in July and August. Yet this woody member of the pea family is generally hardy throughout much of the UK in modern winters if given a sheltered sunny location and is tough and easy in mild areas. A large shrub or even a small tree if very happy.
