Eucalyptus gunnii subsp. divaricata

Hailing from high altitude marshy frost pockets on the Central Plateau of Tasmania, where temps can plummet to -22c, this glaucous, elegant form of the species ranks as the hardiest of all Eucalyptus, along with the Snow Gums E. pauciflora subsp. debeuzevillei and E. pauciflora subsp. niphophila. The Miena Cider gum makes a fast growing large evergreen tree for most soils in full sun. The foliage is slightly smaller than typical and can be more glaucous, with the bark often whiter, as are the newest shoots. Suited to both acid and alkaline soils, even rather wet ones.
