A relatively recent introduction from W China with highly attractive very narrow foliage and subtle, soft-red translucent flowers in spring. The highly ornamental pink fruit are borne en-masse in autumn and have 4 projecting horns and the orange seeds dangle out on tiny threads. A small hardy shrub with an exceptionally similar look to E. cornutus, though with certain key differences, reaching about 1.5m. For sun or semi-shade.
