Euonymus macropterus ‘Mount Fuji’

Grown for its excellent autumn colour and fruit display, the species hails from the Far East and makes a large hardy deciduous shrub in cultivation, to 3m high and 4m across at full maturity, though can easily be kept smaller. The name macropterus refers to the fruit, meaning 'large wings', 4 of which protrude horizontally from each corner and combine well when the leaves turn to intense red shades in autumn and persist after they have fallen. The fruit capsules are red, opening to show orange seeds. A tough species for most soils in sun or semi-shade.
