Previously Eupatorium, this selected form of a very seldom offered 'Joe Pye Weed' species stands up far better to heat and drought than its cousin E. maculatum, not at all requiring the permanent moisture of the latter. A very robust perennial for average to rich soils where it makes a serious impact in late summer and early autumn when the strong upright red-stained stems, clad in distinct whorls of comparatively broad toothed foliage, are topped by sizable domed/conical heads of small pink flowers. Hardy.
