Fagus longipetiolata

Virtually unknown in Western cultivation, this Chinese species is one of the most attractive beeches judging by plants I've seen in Guizhou, with ovate fairly taper-pointed leaves in comparison to our native. The foliage emerges with a bronze tint and turns to shades of russet and gold in autumn. The bark is a similar smooth cold grey. Expect a smaller, medium sized tree here.
