Halesia carolina

From the SE USA, this hardy small tree or large shrub is grown for the truly beautiful display of bell-like white flowers that drape the naked branches in spring. These are followed by pear-shaped four winged fruit in autumn. Hardy and suited to moist but well drained lime-free soil in sun or semi-shade. Up to about 6m tall.
