Hamamelis x intermedia ‘Aphrodite’

A very large flowered witch hazel with slightly fragrant deep-orange flowers borne en-masse in late winter/early spring on spreading branches, considerably later than some clones. Makes a large shrub with autumn colours of rich orange and red. For any reasonably drained soil which doesn't dry excessively in summer, though not happy with very thin chalk soils. Best mulched to build up a good humus layer. Happy on clay if improved with humus and mound planted.
