An exceptionally good witch hazel, holding the RHS Award of Garden Merit, with very large, strongly fragrant bronze-yellow flowers in mid-winter, the petals red at their bases, shading to yellow at their tips. Leaves turn to orange-yellow or red in autumn on this upright large shrub. A seedling of 'Vesna' with possibly 'Pallida' as the other parent, raised in Holland. Any reasonably drained soil which doesn't dry excessively in summer, though not happy with very thin chalk soils. Best mulched to build up a good humus layer. Happy on clay if improved and mound planted.
