Hedychium aff. ziroense ‘Sikkim Smile’

Named and released here at Pan Global Plants, this was found originally in Sikkim, this species most closely resembles the recently published H. ziroense, described from Arunachal Pradesh to the East, though differs in a few points. Whatever the botanical wrangling this is a spectacular plant, with fairly large heads of fragrant creamy-yellow flowers in late summer/autumn, with long protruding bright orange stamen. Quite probably perfectly hardy in the garden, but go carefully and mulch in winter if cautious.
