Hedychium wardii Needham form

An Edward Needham introduction from NW Yunnan, China which has settled in very well to UK gardens. Distinct from many others in cultivation, this species produces 15cm tall cone-like inflorescences from August onward, from which emerge clusters of large scented, clear yellow, butterfly-like flowers with very short filaments. Generally hardy in the ground throughout most of the UK where it will be deciduous, though if pot grown under cover it remains evergreen.

Pot size: 2L
