Hemiboea subcapitata

A fully hardy yet rarely seen member of the African Violet family, Gesneriaceae, from China. Forming a mound of broad glossy, thick-textured, handsomely veined, rich-green foliage, 45cm high by 60cm or wider across. The tubular white flowers are spotted purple-red and washed yellow in the throat and appear in September. For shady conditions in humus rich, moist, friable open soil.
