Known as Sweet grass, Manna grass, Holy grass or Vanilla grass, amongst others, or even Bison grass by Polish vodka producers, this aromatic grass is considered sacred by indigenous folk of N America and used in herbal medicine or as a smudge. Native to northern Eurasia and N America this is fully hardy and easy to grow here making a deciduous clump forming grass with broad bright-green, intensely vanilla-scented foliage and diffuse flower heads in early summer. Possibly better as a pot plant due to its spreading nature.
