Hoheria glabrata

Very closely related to and barely distinguishable from H. lyallii, the Mountain Ribbonwood, this is a species from the mountains of South Island New Zealand. It makes a round headed large shrub or small tree, literally festooned with a multitude of comparatively large white fragrant flowers in June and July. Unlike most species, this is deciduous and is consequently growable in colder areas. Best in full sun.
