Hydrangea aspera subsp. robusta KR 10735

A relatively recent collection from Arunachal Pradesh, NE India, of this rare subspecies with rather rounded foliage emerging distinctly pink-red flushed and with red tinted petioles, making a large shrub or even a small tree in the wild. Particularly diffuse lilac/blue and white lacecaps in summer on a large deciduous shrub here in the UK, at its best in semi-shade.
