Hydrangea aspera subsp. strigosa from Sichuan

A seed collection gathered from Wolong, Sichuan by John Marston. A distinct and late flowering form of the species from Central and SW China etc, making a medium sized shrub with relatively narrow foliage and lilac and white lacecap flowers in late summer. Flower colour is not affected by soil type.
