Hydrangea ‘Garden House Beauty’

A potentially highly attractive cultivar and a sister to 'Garden House Glory', this was raised at the same time from a cross between H. macrophylla 'Rotschwanz' and H. serrata 'Tiara'. A small shrub to just over a metre, this is best grown on acid soils. Not because it won't be perfectly happy on alkaline soils, but because of the intensity of the vivid blue lace-cap flowers in summer, set against foliage that develops purple tints at flowering time. Flowers are pink on alkaline soils. Sun or semi-shade, with reasonably even moisture.
