An obscure species of anise from SW China, where it forms evergreen forest trees to 12m. Here it will be much smaller, perhaps a tall shrub with time. Small pale yellow flowers are seen in summer. For a sheltered site in neutral to acid soil. Full hardiness as yet unknown.
