Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Lane Roberts’

A famous old Hillier clone of this hardy medium to large deciduous tree with maple-like foliage, grown prinicipally for its autumn colour of blackish crimson-red. Strong growing, especially on moist soils, though perfectly tolerant of dry limestone in my experience, as here in the Cotswolds. Fully hardy and easy in most places, except shallow chalk.
