Maclura pomifera

The Osage Orange. Not a true citrus, but a North American deciduous small tree bearing (on females) huge, grapefruit sized, pale yellow, inedible fruit. Stems spiny, used as an impenetrable hedge in the USA. Yellow autumn colour, easy on any well drained soil, including thin chalk.
