A narrowly upright growing form, selected in the USA, of the famous Chinese Yulan, itself one of the parents of the ubiquitous M. x soulangeana; forming a slim upright small to medium tree, ideally suited to tight spaces. Flowering on the bare branches in spring and beautiful in bud, which look like white candles, opening to fragrant cup-shaped ivory-white flowers which splay open as the flower ages. Vigorous for the species, reaching a height of at least 12m eventually. For any good soil in sun or semi-shade.
