Magnolia macrophylla var. dealbata

From Mexico, this is the southern relative of M. macrophylla and makes a better grower in the UK than its cousin from the USA, becoming a medium sized tree eventually. Huge foliage up to about 50cm long in the UK, with chalky-white undersides and vast, fragrant, pure white flowers in summer. Hardier than you think; this is grown in various collections across the UK with ease and is rated as hardy as straight M. macrophylla: H4. Best planted with reasonable wind shelter for the vast foliage. Very rarely offered!

Pot size: 2L
