Meliosma dilleniifolia var. dilleniifolia

A large deciduous shrub or small tree, 4-5m tall in the wild state, with rusty-hairy shoots and bold foliage up to 20-30cm long, grey beneath with rusty-hairy veins. Bearing terminal panicles of white flowers in summer. Very rarely seen in cultivation, this is hardy throughout the UK. Native to the Himalaya, these are derived from Arunachal Pradesh, NE India.
