Sometimes cultivated for the edible rounded tuberous roots, which taste of hazelnuts; these are great gently stir-fried in sesame oil. A perennial to about 80cm tall with umbels of white flowers in summer and finely divided foliage that emerges in winter. Previously sold as Bunium (which is completely confused in UK cultivation).
