Ophiopogon japonicus ‘Compactus’

A very small evergreen perennial making mounds of grassy, dark-green leaves to a few cm tall. Short spikes of little lilac flowers in summer. Slowly forms patches. Used by the Japanese as extremely short groundcover and a vital element in many designs. Very tough and tolerant, in shade or sun, even dry.
