Osmanthus x fortunei ‘San Jose’

Scented plants hardly get better than this. A rare American clone of this comparatively vigorous hybrid of O. fragrans and O. heterophyllus with slightly slimmer foliage and a more upright, less spreading form, making a large dense evergreen shrub, with spine-edged shiny holly-like foliage becoming less spiny as the plant matures. Fabulously fragrant white flowers are borne in autumn, have a tropical sweetness like nothing else we can grow outside in this country and scent the air around, sometimes up to 10m away!
