Philadelphus sargentianus

An old John Fairey collection from NE Mexico, this splendid species has an affinity to the little known but superb P. coulteri, but with even larger, flat faced flowers, sometimes up to 8cm across! Softly fragrant. Proven hardy over decades in upland interior Kent. A small to medium sized deciduous shrub for sun or semi-shade.
