Philadelphus karwinskianus F&M 152

A large species from Mexico, collected in N. Puebla State, this is closely related to P. mexicanus but is even more vigorous and scandent in growth, clambering over other things to make a large semi-evergreen climbing shrub with elegant foliage and terminal panicles of large heavily perfumed white flowers. This needs a reasonably protected position like P. mexicanus, though is fundamentaly hardy in all but the very coldest winters and even then would return from the base if cut back by cold..
