Phyllostachys vivax ‘Aureocaulis’

Truly marvellous and jaw-droppingly impressive when mature, which doesn't take long from a small plant; the huge thick culms seem to arise from nowhere. They are a rich warm-yellow with random deep-green vertical stripes, and the foliage is elegantly drooping and held high. Up to 8 or 9m tall if happy, this vigorous beast has made a magnificent clump here and is commented on by most visitors. It is a naturally running bamboo so in most situations requires a rhizome barrier, which is very easily installed (please enquire for method). Once installed it remains a tight clump.
