An Abutilon relative from Mexico, making a medium sized shrub with sumptuous deepest blood-red flowers with paler interiors in this exceptionally dark form, named here. The petals are perfectly placed together to form a clean open funnel. The vine-like foliage is lightly hairy and slightly grey-green. Untouched by severe cold in a sheltered position at Wisley during the Beast from the East, 2018.
