Pinus montezumae NJM 09.016

Most P. montezumae in the wild have green foliage, but these are from a high altitude population in NE Mexico where the needles are a good bluey-grey, which could well be the origin of the old trees in British and Irish gardens. The nomenclature of this taxon has always been in flux with some calling it P. rudis. Perfectly hardy, this will make a most magnificent medium to large tree (eventually) with huge balls of foliage; each needle up to 25cm long. A very rare purchase!
