Pittosporum illicioides var. illicioides

An evergreen medium sized shrub bearing clusters of highly fragrant, evening-scented pale-yellow flowers in June, followed by Celastrus-like seed heads splitting to reveal orange seeds in autumn. A collection that originated in the mountains of Taiwan, this variety has ovate foliage and considerably larger flowers than the var. angustifolium. For a sheltered position, this is generally hardy outside in the UK and happy in sun or semi-shade.
