Prunus rufa

Grown primarily for its outstanding bark qualities, this Himalayan cherry makes a hardy small deciduous tree with pale-pink flowers in spring and rufous (rust coloured) hairy new twigs. The bark is a superb deep red-brown with amber, covered in a multitude of pale, horizontal lenticels. Suited to most soils and relatively easy to please.
