Quercus castaneifolia ‘Zuiderpark’

A distinct form of the species from The Netherlands, with deeply and sharply lobed leaves. One of the fastest growing and truly most magnificent of all oaks, making a superb specimen for a large garden or parkland, forming a huge rounded crown with great vigour; suited to most soils. The leaves are rather chestnut-like, funnily enough, and the acorns sit in fairly large and very 'hairy' cups. I've had the pleasure of seeing forests of this species in S. Azerbaijan, growing with Parrotia, Zelkova, etc. Heat and drought tolerant and great for a changing UK climate.
