A three way hybrid oak with the parentage: Q. rysophylla x Q x heterophylla, the latter itself a hybrid of Q. phellos and Q. rubra. This extremely rare entity arose in a garden in Belgium from seed sown of Q. rysophylla and makes a vigorous tree with very variable foliage that emerges saturated deep-red. The leaves go on to be either fairly broad and shallowly lobed, slim and fairly deeply lobed or slim and unlobed. This should make a large tree suited to lime free soils, definitely heat, and most probably drought tolerant also.
