Quercus marilandica

Blackjack Oak. A most unusual looking small oak from the E States, the foliage being large, bluntly three lobed at the apex, often almost triangular, thick leathery and dark-green, with a soft yellow underside, turning warm-brown in Autumn. Very rarely seen in the UK, but will happily make a small picturesque tree here, low and spreading with fissured bark.
