A splendid, but rarely seen Sino-Himalayan evergreen oak. Potentially forming a strong upright tree 15 to 20m tall given 100 years, with handsome undulate foliage, spine edged on young plants, but entire on older specimens, with the undersides conspicuously sand-yellow hairy. Proven very hardy in the English Midlands. These are cuttings from the original introduction at Tregrehan; a Champion tree.
