Quercus shumardii

Related to both Q. rubra and Q. coccinea, the 'Swamp red oak' from Central and Southern USA forms a small to medium sized tree here, with bold foliage deeply lobed and glossy-green. Autumn colours are red or golden-brown. One can expect larger sizes in the warmer parts of the UK.
