From the Missouri town of the same name, this spectacular form of a rarely grown species has deep-red new growth throughout the growing season, that fades slowly through different shades of red to green. The Texas Red Oak makes a medium to large, fast growing tree with a rounded crown. Autumn colours come late in the season, being deep-red and plum. Not good on thin alkaline soils.
