Rhododendron lopsangianum ex Arunachal Pradesh

A great rarity, closely related to the fabulous R. thomsonii, this is smaller growing; eventually to only 1.8m. Crimson to deep-crimson bell-like flowers in heads of three to five and really excellent bark; a warm creamy-pinkish-cinnamon, shedding in flakes and small sheets to a smooth greener underlayer. Hardy throughout most of the UK. Shelter and light shade. Acid soil.
