Rhododendron vernicosum f. euanthum HC 2015

A very fine Rhodo' in flower, closely related to R. decorum, calophytum, fortunei etc, making an evergreen, very hardy large shrub with foliage green above and glaucous beneath. Widely funnel-shaped white, pale-pink or rose-lavender flowers are borne in compact heads of up to 12 in April/May. These are the result of hand pollination of this collection of the forma euanthum from Lijiang, Yunnan. Acid soil and semi-shade. Very rarely available.
