Rosa bracteata

The Macartney Rose from China and Taiwan makes a large rambling evergreen for a sunny sheltered site, where it will be in flower from June to September and often beyond, followed by globose orange-red fruit. Lemon scented white flowers with golden anthers up to 10cm across and backed by conspicuous leafy bracts. Described in the literature as being on the tender side, yet a plant here in a bad rural frost pocket has survived -14c.
