Collected originally in Guizhou, China, this is a re-introduction of the 'Burr or Chestnut rose'. A very distinct species with ferny foliage with up to 15 small leaflets on a large deciduous shrub. Fragrant shell-pink single flowers are seen in May/June, followed by orange-yellow tomato-shaped fruits covered in stiff prickles. Attractive grey to cinnamon flaking stems. Hardy.
