Ruscus colchicus

Particularly unusual in cultivation, though perfectly easy and hardy, this is a very different Butchers Broom from the Colchis region of SW Caucasus and NE Turkey, with the cladodes (leaves) long and tongue-like, up to 17cm. Females bear bright scarlet round fruit. Very tough and drought tolerant, making a small evergreen shrub for shade.
